If you are religious, you have put your faith in one of the many religions of the world, and you believe in that religion’s God, or gods. All of these different religions are strong evidence that the living God who created us "put eternity in our hearts".
Maybe you belong to a religion because you were born into it. Your parents and relatives belonged to the same religion, so you just grew up in it. Now, even though you have doubts about its rules and doctrines, you would never quit for fear of family reprisals. We know, we’ve been there.
So you just hang on and ignore the parts of your religion that you don’t like. You have re-defined your God on your own terms so that he or she is more likeable.
Maybe you’re a religious zealot. You try hard to convince others that yours is the only true religion. Paul, who became one of the apostles of Jesus, was formerly a religious zealot. He persecuted Christians who spoke out against the Jewish religion.
Then Paul became a follower of Jesus. Once a murderer of Christians, he spent the rest of his life spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
You probably believe in Jesus. Most of the world does. Even Satan and his demons believe in Jesus, but they don’t trust Him. Jesus is the only God who came down to earth, became a human, and dwelt among us. He knows firsthand our pain and suffering.
Jesus was crucified for your sins, died on a Roman cross, and then rose from the dead to prove that He alone is the living God. He’s the only one who can forgive your sins and set you free from guilt. Eternal life is also a free gift from Him. You don’t have to earn it or pay for it. Jesus already has.
But you have to come to Jesus on His terms, not yours. Most religions have defined their God according to their own liking, and ignored the truth of the Bible.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life". No one can come to the Father but through me". That makes Him either a liar, a lunatic, or the Son of the living God, the one who created you.
When you turn from your sins, and put your faith in Jesus, you won’t be burdened with rules that you can’t keep anyway. Jesus promises to change you into a new person, from the inside out. That’s real freedom, and you can start living it today. When you trust Jesus, He will change your life forever.
